| In this society people were so busy that they wanted to reduce their eating time as much as possible, especially breakfast and lunch. So a new type of food was produced, an elaborate type of freeze dry food. Originally NASA had been developing this special type of food: Space Food. Space Food was created with the following things in mind: To be preserved for a long time To be as light as possible To be well balanced nutritiously To be edible anywhere, anytime And, as the activities in the space were very stressful for the astronauts, the Space Food should be tasty with a good appearance and texture because for any human being eating time is important. And these qualities of Space Food were a perfect match for the food makers', shops', and customers' requests. For food makers, the light products are better because of transportation cost reasons. For the shops, food that are not bulky is better because they can display more goods. In addition, it suits the customers in that they can carry them easily to their house and stock them. It means that they don't need to go to the supermarket often. So, various types of freeze dry products  were produced: ramen, curry and rice, spaghetti, hamburgers, sandwiches, beefsteak, fried chicken, pizza, stew, rice balls, sushi ... The consumers also could buy cake, pudding, apples, pears, tomatoes, even green salad.When eating these, one only needed to prepare cold water or hot water and put it into each package accordingly to the package instructions. And after waiting for three minutes or so, one could eat the food which were not so different from the original ones, non-readymade. After the invention of these foods, there appeared many vending machines which sold these foods. As the products weren't bulky, vending machines could stock many types of food and many of them. Those vending machines accepted credit cards, a smart phone and also had the most advanced type of face recognition payment system that could read a person's face and take out of one's bank account. The companies that set the vending machines would be free from the risk of robbery. They provided freeze dry packaged food, and supplied the hot & cold water for free. People's life had changed. In the case of Ms. Ivanova Petrov She liked cycling. On this day, she took a day off. She got up early and started to pedal to the sea side. She didn't do any preparation in advance. She only brought some rainwear in case of rain or feeling cold. She got to the seaside and cycled along the coast side road. After a while it became noon. Through her smart phone, she found a vending machine that sold freeze dry foods. She found it easily. She stood straight in front of the machine and pushed the face recognition button. Soon the approval lamp was lit. She pushed the button for chicken soup, bread, a salad, pudding and coffee. As each package was dropped, she opened the packages and poured in either hot water or cold water. After a while, she started to enjoy them. She had no idea how this worked but she liked the easiness of it. In fact, if she ever felt uneasiness from her job again, she would do this again. In the case of Mr. Park Jae-Yeon He was a salesman. He wanted to visit as many customers as possible. So he took as little time as possible for lunch. He stopped by a vending machine and bought a vegetable & meat rice package with green tea. He poured hot water into both packages and waited for a certain time. When he opened the vegetable & meat rice, there was a good smell. He couldn't believe the vegetables, meat and rice were not so different from normal ones. Eating this in his car made him a little miserable, but he didn't care. He was meeting his girlfriend that night. He could enjoy dinner and wine with her at the restaurant, and enjoy relaxing conversation in a place with good atmosphere. |
