When he retired from his job at the age of 60, he had two choices: to live for hobbies or to continue to work. His company offered him a new job for a lesser salary and lesser work time. He liked his company but he worked hard and he wanted to relax for a while, maybe at least for one year, so he declined the offer.

So his free time started.
He wanted to relax but he was not the type to just relax. He started to make a list of activities that he could relax at.

He belonged to a sports gym. He had been exercising for a long time. He thought that it was enough to exercise at the sports gym, so he wrote down 'Sports' and crossed it out.

He wrote down 'Cook' but crossed it out quickly. He knew his cooking was terrible. And he wasn't interested in food. Cooking wouldn't make him feel relaxed.

He wrote 'Arts'. He liked art. When he was young, he was good at arts. After he started working he tried painting once. At that time, he drew some sketches of a scenery and painted them. He liked it but he knew that it took a lot of time. If he started to do art work, maybe he would work intensively. He knew his characteristic and it seemed a little bit different from his 'relaxing' so put it for a later time.

He also wrote 'Movies', 'Books', 'Gardening', 'Hiking', 'Fishing', 'Traveling' and crossed them out as well. He thought he could do those any time when he wanted to, those are not to do regularly.

Suddenly the words came to his mind, it was the name of the book, 'Throw Away Your Books, Go Out In The Streets'. He forgot whether he read it or not, but he remembered the name. It reminded him of another saying that his friend would say, "Any hints you are looking for are in the scene where you need to go." His colleague was a public engineer and he spent almost all of his time at construction sites. He went out of his house and started to walk.

He lived in this middle sized city for a long time, from his birth to now. He only left here while he studied at college. As time went by, this city changed a lot. When he was young, there were a lot of rice paddies and he caught fish with his friends. He also played in open fields but now they became residential areas.

He walked to the downtown area. It was a strange feeling. He had walked various places in this city but always for some purpose, go to a restaurant or a bar, go shopping, go to the theater, etc. This time he was walking without purpose.

He remembered a TV program in which a middle aged actor who liked history walked in various cities with a female TV personality and explained about how this town was built historically. For example, "Before this place was the moat of the castle. You can see how it protected the castle but also ..." or "The reason why this road is not straight is because in the castle city if their enemy came ..."

He came to the river side. He passed this bridge an uncountable amount of times. In this town, there were a couple of rivers and separated the city into areas. There were some main bridges and this was one of them. Both of the railings were made of wood and the posts' top were covered in unique shaped bronze caps. He only knew this was old because they were here from when he was a child.

He looked at one of them closely. There were letters and it read somebody's name. He didn't know well about the old history of this town but he knew it was the name of the lord who was one of the clan families who ruled this area for a long time. He saw another letter, it was the year that maybe this thing was made. As it was the era's name, he needed to check when it was in the Christian era. He checked it on his smartphone. It was 1609. "Wow. That old!?"  He couldn't believe that precious things like this were left this close to where people could touch it easily.

He touched it and it was a little cool. He wondered why the shape was like this, like a Persian old temple's top. He remembered that he had time. He also knew where the library was. The wind was refreshing and he started to aim for the library.
