| She liked clams. She liked clams very much. She ate clams everyday, baked them with butter, put them into soup. She often made paella or pasta with a lot of clams. Her husband made fun of her, "If you eat too many clams, your mouth will become wide." She didn't laugh, because her mouth was kind of wide and she was conscious about it. Sometimes she had a strong urge to go to the sea. She wanted to smell the smell of the sea. Facing the sea, she thought that she might have been a clam before she was born as a human being. When she was looking at the sea, her mind was very calm and she was able to forget everything. She worked at a supermarket as a cashier. The manager prodded her to greet the customers more cheerfully. She was a kind of quiet and shy person. She always said hello to the customers in a small, low voice. But, she didn't care about her
This year, harvesting of clams was poor, and clam prices became high. There were no clams left when she finished her job, so she had to buy clams at other shops. Her husband cursed her for buying such expensive clams all the time. Her chances to buy clams became less and less. She felt as if she would die. Every night, she dreamed that she was eating clams. One morning, when she got up she began to cry. She couldn't bear it without clams anymore. She drove to the sea by herself. As soon as she got to the sea, she breathed deeply. But the smell of the sea didn't satisfy her. She waded into the sea. She looked for clams fiercely but she couldn't find any. Soon a big wave took her out into the open sea. She didn't resist it, letting the wave take her. Soon her hope would become real. |
