In this society, people burned less calories than what is ideal for one's health, because they stayed mostly in front of their computers. In addition, they also tended to eat more food because there were a lot of good high-quality, cheap foods that were developed using advanced technology. Because people exercised less, they were kind of fat, and so many people became sick because of being overweight. So, the government's health and welfare costs ballooned, and the government had to create a drastic policy. The government inserted a chip in people's heads to measure the amount people exercised. On top of this, they had to go to an inspector to report their exercise regimen every month. He didn't like to do any exercise; in fact, he hadn't exercised at all in his life after graduation. So, after this law was enacted he had to become a good actor. This time he rolled a bandage around his left leg and was sitting in front of the He replied in a depressed voice, "Yes, doctor. I might be cursed by the devil or something. I often fall down or have a car accident. It's a miracle that I am still alive." The female inspector said, "I'm sorry to hear that. Is there any possibility that you might be subjected to harassment by some criminals? I can talk with the police in that case." The man coughed hard, "Oh, maybe I need time to make sure about this." The next month there was a different doctor, this time a male. After looking at the screen, he said, "You became injured often. Are you a stuntman or something? But in that case, you should have exercised more." The man said "I am a sleepwalker. When I wake up, I find a new wound or injury every time. In my dreams, I exercise hard, as hard as professional athletes." (To be continued c) |
