Telephone
April 8, 2012
The telephone rang and she picked up the receiver.   A guy she didn't recognize said, "Grandma, it's me.  I had a problem and if I don't pay money I might be killed."  She soon found this was a telephone fraud.  But recently she was tired of her lonely life.  So she replied in an upset voice.  "Oh, Ken. Are you OK now?"
The voice said, "I'm not OK at all, Grandma.  I need money."   She asked, "How much?"   The voice said a certain amount of money.  She said, "It's not small
money, is it?  I need time to prepare."   The guy said, "I have no time. The danger is approaching me."  She said, "I need a few weeks to withdraw from a fixed-term account."  She heard the guy click his tongue.
She said. "Oh, I have an idea."  He asked in an expecting voice. "What's that?"    "Another grandson Taka, you must know him well, he recently recommended that I invest in his company's real estate.  If you give me a few seconds I can check to see if he could cancel it and give me my money back.  The guy once hung up and a few minutes later he recalled her.  "What's happening?"   She said in a sad voice. "Taka said that his company failed in the investment and he and I would be bankrupt!"  She cried (of course in a fake voice).
At this point he realized she was lying.  He said, "Grandma, you have to hold your mind firmly in these circumstances.  I'll send you some money so take care of yourself."   He hung up the phone and sighed.
She was rather a lot tougher than the recent elderly people whom he had been cheating.    He thought about his real grandma in the country for a moment.       But soon he started to dial to the next elderly person.
