Rabbit & Turtle
December 2, 2012
The rabbit teased the turtle, "You are as slow as a snail or a worm."  The turtle objected, "I'm not so slow as those creatures. @I just live eco-friendly, using the least amount of energy.  My slowness is my policy.  You hop unnecessarily, using a lot of energy, you are old fashioned."  The rabbit was surprised that the turtle spoke so aggressively, but said, "Ok, ok, you have a point, but I can't agree with your 'slowness' part. I think you are originally slow and it is your nature, not your policy."
The turtle looked angry at the rabbit and exclaimed, "I can defeat you."       The rabbit retorted, "In what? A slow contest?"   The turtle replied, "Of course a running
race."   The rabbit wondered if turtles can run but agreed with the race.   They promised to hold a race next week.  They announced the race in public so that they wouldn't cheat, like asking somebody to transport them, something only the turtle might do.
Finally, the race day came.  The judge, the horse, said, "You have to go to the top of the mountain, and return here."
Off they started.  The rabbit had immediately left from the spectators' sight.  But the turtle was walking as though he was not moving.  Soon the spectator got tired of seeing the turtle and left, thinking to return here around the time the rabbit would arrive back at the finish line.
The rabbit was steady.  He knew about the old story; his ancestor was defeated by a turtle because of his over-confidence.  He, the present rabbit, was very careful, taking care not to rest, at least not to sleep.
As the rabbit came to the top of the mountain, there was another judge, the bear.  The bear complained to the rabbit, "This is a one-sided game. Nobody bets on the turtle, or the betting wouldn't work."  The rabbit was surprised, "I didn't know about betting.  If the betting works, can the runners also get any money?"  The bear said, "The winner gets 20 percent of the betting." @The rabbit's eyes shone brightly.
The rabbit asked the bear to slightly push him off from the top of the mountain.  The rabbit wanted to get a slight injury, and would pretend his leg broke, so that he could get 20 % from somebody who bet on the turtle. The bear agreed with the proposal, because only he knew the rabbit's intentions, and he could also get some money from it.
Initially the bear was going to push the rabbit slightly, but he couldn't control his power.  The bear hit the rabbit so hard that the rabbit got injured so badly that he had to be carried to the hospital.  The rabbit stayed there for a full month.
One month later when the rabbit got out of the hospital, there was the turtle crossing the finish line.  He was being celebrated by all the animals who laughed at the rabbit's carelessness (again).
