Television

He was a TV show producer. His main genre were dramas, especially comedies.

Recently, he suffered from receiving low budgets to make his shows. Television had a hard time competing with other entertainment and outlets. YouTube made this situation more serious.

The low budget made the dramas he made literally cheap, and the viewer rate dropped.

He gave up making dramas and shifted into creating variety shows. But he was not good at variety shows, and soon his shows were thought to be boring by the viewers. He also tried quiz shows. But his quiz shows were too outlandish and most viewers couldn't understand them.

He made animations but he didn't have any children so he didn't know kids' preference so the animations that he made were unpopular among kids.

His boss suggested to him to make serious mystery dramas. "Viewers like to see people die. They feel at peace when they see other's misfortune," added his boss.

He had avoided to make mysteries or detective stories. He couldn't feel reality
when he watched these types of TV programs that his colleagues made. He thought, "Would people commit a crime this easily? Would people kill somebody so easily?"

But he had no alternatives. He came up with an idea. He would demonstrate something by himself.

He and his wife had many quarrels recently. For him, murdering her seemed easier than other crimes like robbing a bank or committing a serial murder. Of course, he didn't have the slightest idea how to murder his wife. This was just what he might get something from his demonstration.

When they had a quarrel as usual, he went to the kitchen and grabbed the biggest knife he could find and returned. His wife froze. She said in a plain voice, "What's this?" He couldn't express how her face was. It was a mixture of shock, sadness, even sorrow and repent. He had never seen her with this kind of face in their long life together.

He soon understood this was not a good idea and immediately returned the knife to the kitchen. He explained to her about his plan. This sort of cheered her up. She soon returned to her usual normal self. He was relieved to listen to her make fun of him as usual.

He smiled, but still couldn't forget her face.
He was actually very shocked to find that she had some area he hadn't ever touched.

This incident changed his dramas' style.  The dramas themselves were still comedies, but added some kind of nihilism and it made his dramas deep. They gathered popularity among viewers.

The relationship between he and his wife also became a little bit different, better. They had quarrels like before, but they weren't just their releasing their stress type of argument. They couldn't explain how and why they changed, but they liked the change.
