| His machine's one main weak point was that its working time was limited. He was an engineer, and he invented a machine which made a person love the person who used the machine. One day he came to his colleague whom he loved. @He switched the machine on and aimed it at her. Suddenly she changed her expression, and began to look at him with moist eyes. She said, "What would you like?" He was a little upset because the machine worked too well. But, he went on and asked her on a date after work. Immediately, she accepted the offer. It was five o'clock. He knew that the machine's effects would last for seven hours. He had until midnight. At first, they watched a movie, then they went to a restaurant and chit-chatted over diner. At eleven thirty he told her that it was time to go home. She objected, and ordered another glass of margarita. With this, he became uneasy. But finally, he pulled her by the arm and went out of the bar and into a waiting taxi. But, before she got into the taxi, she fell down and grabbed one of his legs. He lifted her up, and got her into the taxi. The taxi left. He was relieved. It was just twelve. But soon he realized one of his shoes was missing. The next morning at work she came up to him and said. "I recognize that this shoe is yours but I don't remember why I have your shoe." He explained that they went on a date last night. She looked confused. "I can't remember this. Does that mean I accepted your invitation?" He said yes. She was puzzled but said, "Ok. I guess that I must like you. Why not?" After the incident, he asked her out several more times and she accepted them, although he never used his machine. Now she looked as if she loved him. But he wasn't satisfied with the situation, because of its beginning. After all of this, he eventually broke off their relationship, and then, he broke the machine itself. |
