Mask
March 10, 2013
In this society, many people wore masks as fashion or for other reasons.  The masks were of high quality, and looked just like a human's face.  So nobody was able to tell which person wore a mask and which person didn't.  So some people got into trouble.
A man was walking downtown at night. A policeman approached him and asked, 'Do you have your ID card?'  The man was not upset because this was usual in this society.  When he showed his ID card, he realized that there was a young woman behind the policeman.
The policeman asked her, "Is this the right person who almost raped you?"  The man doubted his ears.  Did I almost rape somebody? No way!  But surprisingly she nodded to the policeman.  The man raised his voice, "W...wait! She is a complete stranger to me.  When and where was I supposedly doing that?  First of all, she is
not my type."  The young woman glared at him.  The policeman interrupted, "She stated that you followed her after she left the convenience store over there, and was about to attack her; but, luckily, you fell down.  So she came to the police station, and I came here with her."
The man replied angrily, "If, in that case, I would never have fallen down, and I would never have failed in the attempt."  The man felt the policeman's sharp eyes.  He cleared his throat; and calmed down, "Anyways, I'm not so starved for women as to attack her."  She glared at him again.  He asked the policeman, "Do you have any evidence?"  The policeman said coldly, "Yes, we do.  A video camera on the corner recorded the scene which you were chasing her."  He showed the man the video on his tablet PC.  There was a man following her.  The man's face in the video was similar to his but soon he realized something different, and pointed it out.  "The man on the screen is wearing different clothes from mine."
This time, the policeman was upset.  The man said in a winner's tone, "You should have been more careful than that."  The policeman insisted, "Anybody can change their clothes."  The man retorted, "Anybody can change their faces using masks as well!  Somebody must have used a mask that looks like me.  You must be an expert about this type of crime, if not, you are a lazy officer."
He spoke too much; for the policeman, who at first, was going to apologize to him as a common misunderstanding, which often happens in this society, instead arrested him.
