| He thought that if he could float from the ground, he could get a different perspective of the world. Normally, people can't float. Of course, we can ride on a plane. We can ride on a hot-air balloon, hang-glider, paraglider, and/or other similar things. But, he wasn't curious about these types of vehicles. He just wanted to float from his standing point, like a hovercraft. He believed that floating must give some different perspective, even if only 10 cm above the ground. He couldn't remember when he started to have this idea. He could only remember the scene of 'Mary Poppins'. He couldn't remember the whole story, so he might not have seen the movie; but, he was able to remember clearly about the scene that a witch, Julie Andrews, was descending from the sky onto the ground in front of a house. Different from a normal witch, who rides on a broom and flies around like a bird, she was holding a parasol, and her going down was very smooth and elegant. Maybe that was the reason he remembered it. But he had never had an idea to fly himself until drones were invented and appeared in shops and amazon for sale. He bought a cheap one as a trial and flew it in a park.  His drone had a camera and there was a screen on the controller so he could see the picture when his drone lifted up. It was just like his own body going up in the air. He thought that some day he could fly in the future.He told this story to one of his friends, and his friend said even now if he used several drones, he could be lifted up. He laughed, "Several? Hundreds! On top of that, it's prohibited to fly humans under the law." He sometimes enjoyed flying the drone as his hobby. As time passed, drones became cheaper and their performance better. One day when he was browsing on the internet, he happened to read an article which spoke about a company that had been developing a drone that humans could ride. There were pictures of the drones that they developed. He laughed, "This is a helicopter. My dream is different." But after that, the idea that he might use drones hadn't gotten out from his brain. A couple of years had passed. Now he was flying his 3rd drone, and his techniques were a lot better than before. On this day he was participating in a drone flying competition. His results were not great, but he was satisfied seeing other's abilities. While he was eating lunch and watching the demonstration flyers, the person next to him began a conversation with him. They spoke about how they had started flying drones. He revealed his dream. The guy looked at his face and it was serious. He said that his dream was the same. A couple of months later. On this day 60 people gathered in a park with their drones. He and the guy who he had met at the competition secretly gathered members to this event. The event was called 'Code Name: Mary Poppins'. They promised to say that they had just gathered by their own will, so nobody could say anything if they were injured in this event. They might be punished by the law, but they didn't care. Each drone had its own power. They checked each power in advance and calculated the combination of the 60 drones. Then they were divided into 6 groups, each having 10 drones. They prepared an 80 kilogram weight. From the weight, 6 ropes were reached to 6 metal rings. From each ring, 10 fishing lines for big fish reached to the 60 drones. The drones started to fly. After some trials and errors, finally the weight floated up from the ground. There was a big cheer. Next was a human, him. They took off the weight, and reconnected the lopes to a buckle that was tied around his waist. They were tense. The drones started to hover. And it started to lift his body up. When he was up to about ten meters he gave a signal, and then he opened a parasol. It looked like the parasol Mary Poppins had. He gave another signal. His body started to descend in a smooth movement. He swiftly landed to the ground and opened both of his hands like a player who finished his play. There was huge applause this time as they finished operating their drones and their hands became free. The applause sounded through on the air and didn't stop. |
