| Every year on August 15th a ghost of a young girl appeared in front of him for one hour. She had committed suicide because the guy broke up with her in a bad way, it was on this day three years ago. When she first appeared to him two years ago, he felt fear but soon realized that she had no intention to hurt him. She was half transparent like a movie projection. She appeared in his apartment at exactly noon like the last two times. He spoke to her first, "Hi. How are you?" He soon realized what he said didn't make sense. But she replied, "I'm fine, thank you. And you?" He said, "So, so. By the way, last time, I mean last year, just before you were leaving, you said you might not come next time. So, I thought you might not come this year." She grinned and said, "I just wanted you to be concerned about me. If I had said I would come next year, you might not think about me until the day before I come. Did my intention work?" He bitterly laughed. She didn't need to do that, he thought. Actually her death was
He said, "One hour is a short time. The last two times, I lost a chance to ask you something that I wanted to ask. This time I'm ready." She gently said, "Go ahead." He said, "The last two times, you didn't accuse me. I apologized though. What I did deserves your scolding. Why?" She said, "To tell the truth, after I died, I was around you for a couple of days before going to another world. I was looking at you. At first, I was happy to see your suffering from my death. You cried hard. But soon my feeling of joy disappeared. And then I felt pain to see your pain." He nodded. When he heard about her death from the police, he was too shocked to think normally. His shock wasn't cured until her apparition appeared. "So you come here not to accuse me. So, what's the reason? Before that, you come here once a year, is this a rule or something like that?" She said, "In another world, if we hope, we can meet one person for one hour at the death day for three years. And the reason I decided to come is c I thought if I didn't come, your torture from the guilt might continue for a long time." He became weak. It is as if the person who was killed would try to help the killer. He couldn't say anything. After a while he remembered something and said, "Did you say 'for three years' or something?" She replied, "This time will be the last time to meet you. I won't appear again and you will be released from me forever." "No!" he shouted. "I c I've started to understand you for the first time. When I was with you, I only saw your bad points but now I can see the real youc" She said, "So I am. When I was with you, I was always doubtful about you. When you were just talking to other women, I felt jealous. It was a fear to lose you and it was my weakness. Now, I'm looking at you, my mind is calm and warm. Maybe my death wasn't bad after all." She weakly laughed. He laughed back, almost crying. She said, "It's time. I have to go. Thank you for having me feeling like this." He said, "I have no idea after your leaving. I hope you will come again next year even for a short time." She said, "It's my pleasure, but I can't. I hope you have a new girlfriend. This is not sarcasm. When you have, our failure will become an experience." She started to fade way. "No, I can't. I can't have a girlfriend better than youc" She smiled. "Thank you. Take carec" She disappeared. He was looking at the place where she was at for a long time. He thought that if he said this to another person, they would certainly say this is his imagination from his sense of guilt about her death. So he had no intention to talk to others about seeing her ghost. He knew this was just in his and her memories, and that was enough for them. |
