Sun & North Wind 3
November 23, 2014
The North Wind came up to the Sun and said, "Look at that old man. He is wearing a coat. How about competing against the time it takes for his coat to be taken off?"

This was the third time that the North Wind proposed to the Sun for a game. The Sun was defeated the previous two times.

In the first challenge, the Sun started to warm up the man to take off his coat, but when the man started to re-wear his coat, the North Wind blew it off of him. The second time, since the North Wind blew such a cold wind to the man that the Sun's warming didn't quite work.

After the Sun lost the second game, he thought hard how he could defeat the North Wind the next time. "In the first game, I was too confident, and I became careless. But, the second one, the North
Wind thought through everything. Because the man was so cold, my warming didn't work, and I became impatient. I heated him too much, and he finally fainted and I lost the chance to take off his coat."  When he thought up to this part, an idea came up to him.
Now, he accepted the North Wind's proposal.

The Sun asked carefully, "Who will do it first?"
The North Wind nonchalantly said, "As you like."
The North Wind didn't notice that the Sun grinned.

The Sun started to warm the man. Not long after, the old man took off his coat.
The Sun stopped his heating. Soon the temperature dropped, and the old man started to put on his coat. At once, before the North Wind started to blow, the Sun gave a strong heat on the man. The man had no time to take off his coat or escape under the shadow of the buildings. He fainted and fell down on the sidewalk.

The Sun triumphantly shouted, "See! You have no chance to do anything this time! I've learned from the past games carefully. If you learn from the past, you won't lose any games!"

The North Wind didn't care about what the Sun was saying, and started to blow.

But, his blow didn't aim toward the old man. His wind went to a man walking on the street in his business suit. Being led by the strong wind of the North Wind, the man came to where the old man was.

Soon the man found the old man lying on the ground. The man crouched and laid the old man on his back. He took some equipment from his bag, and opened the old man's coat front, and checked his heart-beat. Soon other pedestrians gathered around.  With help from the people, the man took off the old man's coat, and put it under the old man's head.

The Sun was watching it in disbelief.
The time that the old man was wearing his coat was clearly shorter than the Sun's case. The Sun lost again.

"Bcbut how did you know that the guy was a doctor?" the Sun asked in surprise.
The North Wind said, "He is walking to this place at this hour every day to his job: a clinic."
The Sun was shocked. "Bcbut have you checked all the people's occupations in this city?"

The North Wind replied, "First, I selected a certain hour, and studied about this hour for a couple of weeks. After a while, I got the guy's life style, and proposed you a match today."

He added, "If you learn from the present, you won't lose any games."
