The website put the three major causes of lack of workers into five genres.

[Lack of technological innovation]
For example, to use machinery for fixed/routine works, to automatize person-to-person services. Companies which lack workforce tend to insist on analog working style, so workers are always busy. Companies can't afford to change the situation, so it becomes a vicious circle.

He could easily remember some examples of adopting robotic things.
From a certain time period ago, in big chain family restaurants, conveyer belt sushi restaurants, and izakaya bars, customers need to order through a touch panel tablet computers at each table. A restaurant to which he went recently served the food by a robot with wheels which came to the table with the dishes on it. The customers took their dishes off the robot by themselves.

More and more restaurants, including small restaurants, have installed a ticket machine at the gate. This advancement has replaced some ticket methods that would involve the waitress coming to the customer table and taking half of the ticket, then bringing the food out. But, in modern restaurants, one doesn't need this process, offer ordering at the ticket machine a waitress comes with your food and checks your receipt's number.

He recently watched a TV program which introduced a company which makes sushi making machines. They sell their machines in and out of the country, to sushi restaurants, supermarkets, etc. An economic analyst recommended to the company to develop other machines like tempura making machines, yakitori grilling machines, etc.

Recently, when he called for a reservation to a small Italian restaurant, which was run by the chef/owner. The owner said to him over the phone that maybe there would be a delay in service if the part time jobber for that day couldn't work. The aging society makes it difficult to find college students as part timer workers.

[Slowness for outsourcing]
Secondly, the website pointed out the reason of those companies' lacking workers is outsourcing.

In order to outsource some of their jobs, the company needs to check flow of their jobs, to make manuals to make sure the outsourcing part, etc., those process make the companies difficult to outsource to.

He only could have an image for 'outsourcing' with some 'salary calculation and tax payment' or a 'call center', or 'cleaning for clothes and linen', so he checked on the internet.

There was a website which explained about 'outsourcing' under the contents of this:
