| Recently he would hear this sad thing often: the number of people who committed suicide was increasing. Because of the coronavirus pandemic situation, people had to stay at home, and thus become more stressed, and eventually start to feel depressed. Another reason was losing their jobs. Especially for young women, they were temporary workers, and easy to be fired, they felt a sense of crisis after being fired. He had to feel angry about the government's poor policies. Several months ago, a famous actress committed suicide although she looked happy after getting married one year before, and soon having a new baby. He had heard that people who commit suicide are actually waiting for somebody to stop them. If that is the case, the coronavirus situation has make it more difficult for people to have chances to talk with others. When he was browsing on the internet, he happened to view a website that hosted a radio program, which was on the air in America. He originally liked to listen to the radio. He always listened to it in his car. On radio  programs there are normally one or two personalities, and they talk about some themes, read listeners' letters, and play requested songs. They talk for a long time and their faces are not revealed. Their saying is frank, open, friendly, direct, and somehow intimate. He liked that. On this particular program, there were two female personalities who were talking about issues of committing suicide in the coronavirus situation. They introduced a psychologist who was talking about the situation that more and more people were committing suicide under the pandemic of the coronavirus. She emphasized how important it is that people who are in need, need to talk with others and reveal their troubles. She also said in an earnest voice that they are now battling their depression, and they need to rest, and they need people to help them fight the depression. She also mentioned about their life line phone number. He was thankful that everybody could access this type of program in this modern society. He checked other programs from the web and started to listen to one, it was entitled, "The Juggle is Real: Navigating Life in Your Forties". The personalities talked about how life in the forties is a hard time to live. One of the personalities talked about the difficulty of balancing between motherhood and a worker, as well as other roles. He checked on the internet, and came to know that the actress who committed suicide was just 40 years old. He wondered how it would be if she knew about this radio program. [His Idea #16 : Radio Coordinator There are so many radio programs in the world that are meaningful. Because each radio program takes on the personality of the radio host(s), each program is original and interesting. Maybe these various radio programs and their hosts could reach the people who are being stifled in the coronavirus world. He hoped that the government would cooperate with radio stations around the country to broadcast programs that would encourage people as well as to help translate other programs from around the world that are also encouraging people, and broadcast those translated programs at home. |
