Jobs 10
Juliy 17, 2019
The book's author's logic seemed to be correct. Actually, in this country, only the capital city's surrounding areas had a population increase, while everywhere else decreased. "But how about in the future?" In the coming AI world, will the situation change or accelerate? He had no idea.

He talked about this to one of his friends.
His friend said nothing, but took out his smartphone. He pushed a few buttons, and soon a website appeared. He started to explain:

There are some online studying courses that he has been studying for a couple of years on this website. He showed the 'Life' category and on the page about 10 courses were listed with a picture, title, lecture's name, time of the lecture, and the fee. The fees varied from $20 to $1,000. The times also varied from one hour to 20 hours. At the bottom of the page showed that there were 800 pages.

"So, there are about 8,000 lectures in this category?" He was amazed. The friend added that this site was operated from America, so many courses are in English, but there are some courses in our language, as well as many lectures will have subtitles.

His friend said that he now studies 3D design. Students can use his or her PC, tablet, or smartphone -- anywhere, anytime. The courses usually had no limitation of a watching period, so you can study at your own pace; in fact, you could study twice if you wanted. The friend liked science so he took some science related courses and now he was thinking to study about computer programming. He had paid several thousand dollars for the courses. Sometimes the web offered a discount period, so he sometimes waited for those time periods.

The friend said, "About your question ... yes and no. As the book's author mentioned, conversation is important. If not, maybe you wouldn't know about this site." He mischievously smiled and added, "But when it comes to universities and colleges, I think now that they are just certifications. It's still important for job seekers, though."

When he returned home, he accessed the website that his friend had introduced on his PC and signed in, it was free. After browsing a little he found a free lecture, the title was, "Releasing Your Mind Using Role Playing." He didn't know the lecturer. Then he took his tablet computer and sat down on the sofa. He accessed the website using the ID and password that he got a little while ago and went to the 'Releasing Your ...' course.

It was a 1.5 hour long lecture. Even for this short 1.5 hour lecture, the course was divided into 7 parts: Introduction, Lecture Process, Model conversation 1, ... He felt that it was elaborate. The web organizer planned well in order to keep the students from getting tired and maintain their motivation. In fact, there was a mini quiz to check the student's understanding at the end.

The video was proceeded by the lecturer and a guest. The guest played the role of a young woman who didn't have confidence about herself and couldn't live positively. The lecturer explained that he'd like to emphasize that "noticing" is more important than "being taught". The young woman (played by the guest) revealed that now she was a college student and she adored her friends because they looked nice and that they were smart, and she was afraid that she was out of place. Sometimes she thought that she was not worth existing.

In the middle of the counseling (demonstration) the lecturer drew footprints on the whiteboard and said, "You came here from the door by walking, right? These are your footprints. If there existed only the area where your footprints are, and the other area was blank, nothing. Could you come again?" The guest said, "No, it's like a circus." "So wouldn't it mean that not only the footprint areas important, but also the whole floor is important as well?" The video proceeded like this. The course passed by immediately.

Next, he took another free lesson titled, "The Entrance For AI." It was a one hour lesson.
The lecturer, a computer engineer, explained how AI worked. He had thought that AI computers do only complex calculations, but the lecturer explained that it was the repetition of simple things. Using many pictures, the lecturer explained the system in a way that he was easily able to understand. Then the lecturer introduced how normal people used AI. An open source AI software from Google was then used. One farmer used the AI system how to sort cucumbers into several shape patterns. Another laundry shop owner used the AI system to automatize receiving clothes from the customers. The lecturer emphasized that they didn't have any special skills about computers, but that they studied how to implement AI and they achieved doing it: they reduced manpower without losing their service quality. They needed this system because in their local places it's hard to find new workers.

Even from only two videos, he learned something.
Maybe as long as people pursued knowledge, there are ways people can get inspiration, as well as knowledge. New technologies can change the situation of present shortcomings to strength. Living in one's hometown is a natural need for people ~ being close to one's parents, relatives, friends, and acquaintances is important. But also people need jobs. He hoped that new technologies like AI will able to help people's needs.
