From The Newspaper (39) Job
June 29th, 2023
Recently he read a long article in the newspaper which discussed about the aging society and lack of workforce, and one interesting approach to this dilemma.

The author is a professor of a university, whose specialty is human expansion engineering. "What's 'human expansion engineering'?" As he read the article, he understood it.

The professor read that when he looked at the population pyramid of this country, it was an inverted triangle, fewer younger people on the bottom, more elderly people on the upper side, it is one of the big problems in this country: less workforce, less GDP, less world competitiveness, losing vitality of the society, debts of medical costs, etc...., he came up with the idea to reverse the triangle, upside down. It became stable. He started to think about the world, in which senior people have certain roles in the society.

Before, seniors who were over 65 were regarded as ones who should only be supported, but actually most of them are active and energetic. If they can support young people who need to focus only on things which are worth doing in their young days.

Of course, senior people don't have the energy and intention to work full time, going to the same job place every day. But, instead, if they can work in the area where they can access easily, without stress because they are good at, they have skills and knowledge for the job. A job for one person doesn't need to be done by one person.

So, the professor made an App named 'GBER'. As the professor used katakana 'jiibaa', he could guess that G (jii) means jii-san for an old man, BER means baa-san for an old woman. He checked on the internet using the key word 'GBER', and their website came up. It explained that GBER was an abbreviation of 'Gathering Brisk Elderly in the Region'. Like 'UBER', a matching of drivers and passengers, in GBER they want to make matching between job seekers and various jobs, from companies, for volunteers, even hobby fields.

Different from conventional ideas for a job, they divided a job into skills, time, and place, and they made a system to offer several positions for a job which was done by one person before.

The website explained that they prepare applicants to register for skill-base-matching, location-base-matching, and calendar-base-matching, etc.  They started this App in 2016, asking each municipality to use this.

He checked on the internet for actual use in some municipalities. A website introduced Fukui Prefecture's example.
Fukui Prefecture introduced GBER in 2021. They use GBER system to gather supporters of social welfare for elderly people. There was a list for those who want to ask about the job :

Registration fee: 1000 yen/year (For supporters' lecturers, other expenses.)
Service Time: Monday to Sunday,  9 a.m to 7 p.m.
Service and Fee:  For other costs, supporter's transportation expenses.
Daily Life Support : 1,020yen/hour. For attendance to a hospital, receiving drugs from pharmacy, etc.
Households Support : 1,020 yen/h.  For household work such as  vacuuming, washing clothes, cooking, etc.
Parenting Support : 1,020 yen/h.   For  helping a mother who has a baby, taking care of children for parents who will join an event
  Weeding : 1,120 yen/h
Snow Shoveling, Others : 2,050 yen/h. For snow shoveling (only ground), moving heavy furniture, etc.

This is a little bit different from regular working in companies. He continued to research.
