His Ideas 32 ~ Consortium
May 13, 2021
He was a member of a gym.
On this day he received a letter from his gym. It read that they wanted to raise the membership monthly fees. Because of the coronavirus, there were more costs for the prevention of coronavirus, and the change of public attitude towards sports facilities. They apologized. He calculated the raise, and found it was about an 8% raise. He sighed. He didn't think that the gym used much cost for coronavirus prevention. They just set up a temperature measuring machine, some fans and a few disinfectant stations. Opening doors and windows didn't cost anything. What's "the change of public attitude towards sports facilities"? The gym's customers pay monthly fees no matter how many times they used it. Actually, under the corona situation, he went to the gym less, but paid the same. But, when he checked on the internet, he came to understand that the number of members of gyms had drastically dropped since the pandemic started. The article mentioned that there were a lot of customers who didn't use the gym so often, and the pandemic became the trigger for them to quit.

A couple of days after reading the letter, he saw a leaflet in the newspaper, the title was "Be careful about the secondary damages of the coronavirus." It was a leaflet urging not only for the prevention of the virus, but also for the prevention from being unhealthy by staying at home. It recommended appropriate exercise, eating balanced meals, having good sleep, and communication with others, which would strengthen one's immunity, resulting in reducing the risks of contracting the coronavirus, and creating a healthy body and mind.

There were three names on the leaflet ~a professor, who was a doctor and the editor of the leaflet, a gym company, and the planner & producer of the 'Health Secondly Damage Preventing Consortium'. He never heard of it. It added, "This consortium is organized by voluntary doctors, scientists and other experts, municipalities, and business sects. "We are working to inform the importance of the prevention of the secondary health damages caused by the coronavirus pandemic in order to implement normal lives (outing, traveling, health activities, consumption, and communication) with the use of proper measurements for the prevention of contracting the coronavirus."

He was curious about the consortium, and searched on the internet.
The consortium was founded this March. The founders were 3 mayors, 13 experts (professors, doctors, athletes, etc.), and 7 companies (a sports shoes company, insurance companies, and even a gym company was included).

They gather members. The membership fee is free and the members can use the three types of leaflets with their name printed on it, like the gym company had used. The other two leaflets that the consortium made focused on the medical part and detailed exercising methods. There were about 50 cities and 60 companies on the list. Surprisingly, four cities were located in his prefecture.

He checked one of the municipalities. They posted the three leaflets on their website. It cost nothing. The city expected their citizens to become healthier, and the insurance budget would decrease. For companies, like that particular gym company, they would pay the cost for printing and delivering, but they might get new members.

His Idea #32 : Consortium

A travel agency's name was also on the list. The company featured club-type travels, in which they gathered group members for "active" type of tourism, such as climbing mountains, walking around historical and cultural sites, etc.

Nobody knows who will join these activities. The consortium idea does have an impact, as it relates positive social interaction. Maybe its members will reap the rewards, in their own way. He respected the people who started this.
