Inventor 2 ~Singing Activating System
February 19, 2020
On this day, a young woman came to the inventor's office. It was very rare that a young woman like her, in her early 20s, came to his office so he was a little nervous, but very happy. Her concern was like this:

She had just started to work at her office, and recently she was asked by her colleagues to join them to sing karaoke. She wanted to decline, but her coworkers insistently invited her so she ended up going. She sang, and after her song, nobody said anything. Normally, even it was bad, people would say something nice like, "Not bad," or, "Good try," even, "It's unique and new to me." But they didn't say anything, and the next person started singing. She said that she had lived abroad for many years because of her father's job, and those countries didn't have karaoke shops. She said, "In this country, there are so many karaoke shops. Young people like me started to sing at a very young age." She became sullen, it was cute.

The inventor asked, "So, you want me to make a training machine or something?" She nodded. He said, "B... but I suppose there are some singing lesson schools in this city." She said, "They are for old people. I want to shock my colleagues by improving my singing. I want to practice secretly."

"But, I can't believe that you are …" She picked up her smartphone, saying, "I'm practicing this song for a month." She touched on the phone and soon an introduction of a song started. It was familiar to him, it was the theme song of a famous movie, 'Let It Go' from 'Frozen'.  When she started, he felt a bad hunch, this song's key range is wide and the tempo varies. At the end, her song was a disaster ~ she couldn't follow the melody line suitably, and her voice lacked power and was monotonous. After finishing, she said, "Very bad, huh?" He simply said, "Not bad, but maybe it needs some improvement." He said to her to come back one week later, until then he would make something.

He was not a good singer himself, but he liked to sing songs. When he went to karaoke with his friends, he preferred to sing old songs, which were very popular when he was young. He and his friends would feel nostalgic.

He visited his former coworker who he had worked with. The guy now worked in karaoke rating system division, which measures points like '85' out of '100' after singing. The inventor asked him how songs were evaluated.

One week later, the young woman came and received a mic shaped invention. He explained about how to use it.

A month later, the young woman came to the inventor's office again. Her face wasn't bright, so the inventor thought that his invention wasn't successful. She started to explain:

"After I received this gadget, I immediately tested it in my apartment." She pushed a button on the mic shaped machine and said, "This is my original song." Her singing voice sounded. It was 'Let It Go', almost the same as what he had listened to one month ago. She stopped singing in the middle, and pushed another button and said, "This is the song with using your machine." Soon the same song started but it was totally different from the original one. Her voice sounded confident. Her voice was rich and deep, and it followed the melody line correctly.

While listening, he remembered when he listened to another version of 'Let It Go', in which it was sung by many singers from all around the world. Disney had licensed that song in each country's language. He heard that they licensed even the singers. He tried listening to the different language 'Let It Go' sung by the different countries' singers. They were good. Now her singing was as good as them.

She said, "When I listened to this for the first time, I cried. I was very pleased that I was singing this, even with the help of a machine." "But..., " her expression clouded. She continued, "I started to practice following this voice. Following my voice seemed to be the best way to practice because my teacher is my voice. But, I came up with another idea."  "Another idea?"  "Yes. I couldn't resist the idea how my coworkers would enjoy it if I showed this machine to them. And I thought that if my singing was very bad, the machine's effect would become very clear.  So, I demonstrated this machine with my colleagues at a karaoke shop. I'm sorry to say this. This wasn't the reason that you made me this machine."

The inventor said, "You don't need to apologize about it. As the owner, you are totally free in how to use the machine. And I'm very impressed that you prioritized to please others rather than showing them up with your new singing ability." She looked embarrassed, "Maybe because this is that good." He asked, "What was their impression?"  She smiled, "It was amazing. They were amazed at this machine and they started to sing using this machine one after another. They liked to listen to their ideal songs. It lasted until midnight."

The inventor asked, "It is great and I appreciate it. But, so, you gave up to improve your ability of singing?" She said, "No, no. I've been trying. Do you want to listen to it?" He said, "Of course." She set the machine on the normal mode and pushed a button. Soon the song, 'Let It GO', started. Her song was completely amateurish and, she still missed the keys. But, he knew that her singing was better than before. He had to say he liked her natural voice.
