His Ideas 1 ~ VR
September 10, 2020
After watching a TV program about the coronavirus, he came up with an idea: to think about ideas by himself. The TV program was about a 'Hackathon', an idea contest managed by the EU in order to help people under the coronavirus pandemic, and the 2,164 teams that applied. He had expected more radical ideas because the EU gathered ideas from common people, who are not business people and free from risks. But, as a whole, the ideas that were broadcasted were kind of orthodox; for example, an app to tell the person he or she was too close to others (social distancing); a machine box to kill viruses from clothes; a system to reward a person if he/she stayed home so that he/she could get points to buy something in his/her area. If he were one of the applicants, he would send more drastic ideas. So he started to think about it.

First he made a list of the hardest businesses by the coronavirus: They should be the priority for help.
・Transportation: Ferries, Airplanes, Trains, Buses, Taxies, and others
・Accommodation: Hotels, Inns, Air B&Bs, and others
・Entertainment & Events: Theaters, Movie theaters, Halls, Music halls, Theme parks, Sports fields (Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Others), Museums, Zoos, and others
・Eating Places: Restaurants, Coffee shops, Bars, Food stands, and others
・Shops: Department stores, Shops in working or sightseeing areas, and others

[His Idea #1: VR]

VR is the abbreviation of Virtual Reality. He had tried it once. A few years ago, he received a cheap goggles-type viewer, which was made from cardboard and had plastic lenses. He then downloaded an app to his smartphone, and set it on the viewer. He chose a movie. It was a simple movie. A camera on the balloon started to rise from the ground and the view was played until it reached the atmosphere of the earth. The view that he watched was in 3D, and he could see around him including the land that was becoming smaller; and above the balloon, the sky was becoming darker, then stars. He was amazed at its quality even with that cheap of a gadget.

His idea was this: the government would give people subsidy to buy VR goggles, or distribute them to all of the citizens, good quality ones with 4K or 8K. He thought about one example.

#Railroad company's case
≪Preparation≫
They would set many cameras in and on their trains, and take videos of the view from the windows. They would develop a system and an app.

≪Customer≫
He/She would wear VR goggles and choose a tour from a list on the railroad company's website. The prices depended on the tour, like real tours. The person might choose a tour named, "A train tour of The Rias Coast ~enjoy the great coastal view of strange rock formations and beautiful sunset". Soon the view would fade into the inside of the train, and the sound of the train would be heard. The person would be sitting on a seat in the train, the person could look around with a 360°view. Outside was beautiful scenery. Inside the corridor, the conductor was checking tickets, and the seats were occupied by customers.

In an elaborate system, you would be able to ask the app to change the customer next you to a beautiful person. You might even be able to talk with them. If your friends or family members applied together, you would be able to enjoy the view and conversation with them, like a Zoom meeting.

This idea could easily be applied to other transportations and entertainments: You could enjoy a baseball game with the feeling that you were in the baseball field. Or, you could be on a boat with your girlfriend seeing the aurora, or, you could enjoy a tour in a taxi in Jurassic Park, which was offered by the taxi union.
