Jobs 7

Amazon is famous for their low business tax owed to each government. Compared to Amazon's profit, their paid taxes is said to be very low. In this country, Amazon's paid taxes are said to be one thirtieth of a similar sized retailing company.

Amazon is also famous for hiring less workers, using as little human labor as possible. In their huge warehouses, they use as many robots and automation systems as possible. They have a lot of computer engineers whose salaries are very high. They usually work at headquarters in other countries and operate the system for each country, thus, they don't have to pay workers' tax in each country.

He didn't have a personal grudge against Amazon, but rather he bought a lot of things from Amazon. But even so, a huge company like Amazon might take jobs from his country, or any other country for that matter.

For example, if you have a grocery store in your town, you would employ workers from the town, and the workers themselves are the consumers in the town. You can't easily fire your workers because you know them and their families. But, an Amazon type of company prioritizes only profit. They are aggressive. He heard that Amazon had been testing non-clerk convenience stores using AI and cameras. They aren't doing this to contribute to society!

If they are able to do this, then the next step might be to offer to transport your purchased goods for free. They could use a non-human car or drone. They might even give a discounted ticket for other goods, etc. If they succeeded once, they would do it again and again ... If they succeeded in that category, they would spread it to another genre, like clothing ... There would be no chance for local shops.

"But ...," when he thought up to this point, he remembered one scene that had happened at work when he was young. At that time, a computer system was introduced for accounting in his company for the first time. At the beginning, some of the workers complained saying that it was troublesome to switch on the PC and to start an application, as well as to choose his/her transaction (for example, to make a payment bill for a piece of stationery), or to change language mode, and then to type. Before that, workers, including himself, wrote out several sheets of paper by hand using a calculator, addition, drawing, multiplication and division ~ easy.

But this was wrong. Workers soon came to know about computers' power; computers don't make mistakes. You don't need to write the shop's name and address and bank account info every time, one can just take them from the list. And, most importantly, it's easy to analyze their purchases for the next year. Soon workers got used to PCs and their job efficiency improved.

Amazon's effect on society should be huge, including some good things.

[Shops]
About 200,000 shops are said to be open in the Amazon website in this country. In the past, if you wanted to sell your products, you had only one choice -- you had to go to a shop owner and ask him/her to sell your products. Normally shops don't accept one's products easily, even if it had a certain quality, a certain amount, and at a reasonable price. They might inquire about your business, like having a recommendation from your bank.  You would need to negotiate with the shop owner patiently. And, if you succeeded, it would mean only one shop deals with your products. Still, the majority of people wouldn't know about your products' existence. On Amazon however (and other net-shopping sites), if you contract to pay a certain amount, you can open your web-shop immediately. They never do unfair dealings with a person or company, they are originally fair to everybody. And they announce it.

Because of the existence of these type of shopping websites, there have been new business chances that have been born, making many dreams come true!

[Customers]
Recently he read an essay in the newspaper, which described an 85 year woman whose legs were bad who regularly ordered daily goods and food through the internet and received them at the entrance of her house. She showed gratitude for this convenience. For him, he lived in a middle sized city, so he never felt an inconvenience for shopping, but there must be so many people living in local area who have a hard time to go shopping.

He once bought an electric assist bike from a net shop, and it broke soon afterwards. He made a claim about it but the shop evaded his demands and he gave up. After that he was cautious in buying expensive things on the net. But even so, he would buy books and DVDs. It was very convenient to search for his favorite writers or things that had a good reputation. And then to purchase something by one click was supper simple. Also you can buy secondhand things, you can compare the various shops' evaluations as well as prices.

Maybe Amazon believes that as long as they can increase their sales, they will have customers' support.
