Inventor 2 ~Exercising System
March 5, 2020
On this day, a middle-aged man came into the inventor's office, and told of his concerns:

He was overweight and he wanted to lose weight.

Actually, he had tried various training methods. He bought various training gear and tried them. He bought dumbbells, a treadmill (running machine), an aerobike (exercise bike), even a training shaft (he didn't know the exact name, but it was a spring-type of shaft used in order to train one's arms), but he only used, at the longest, for a month. The aerobike's case was funny. He bought it used through the internet. It was very heavy. When it arrived, he and the delivery truck driver had to use all their might to move it from the truck to his apartment's room. It took about 30 minutes. After a couple of months he sold it to his friend, and the moving experience was repeated. He could say that moving the machine from place to place was harder training than the actual training for exercise.

Recently there were so many TV shows that introduced easy and effective diet methods. Some famous TV personalities who were fat were guests on the shows. After a month, they would appear on the show in a gown and after taking it off, the hosts and guests were amazed when looking at their change. He tried the diets, but he never succeeded. He also jogged and cycled, but those didn't last long either.

He said, "I'm worried about my health. I don't hate exercising, but I can't continue. I get bored soon." He didn't look so fat but he wasn't in good shape. The inventor asked him to come again one week later, and until then he would make something.

The inventor thought about his exercising experience. Now he was a member of a gym, and would go there two or three times a week. He would pedal a bike machine, do some arm training machines, then run on the machine. This routine took about one hour each time. Plus, he sometimes swam. It was refreshing, and good for his health as well. And, one more thing, taking a bath and sauna there would reduce his living cost. But there was a strange thing that happened before. He had been a member of another gym, and at that time he only went there once every two weeks, sometimes once in a month, and in the worst case scenario, once in a half year! The membership fee was monthly, so it was like 'throwing money into a ditch', and he kept his membership for several years. The strangest part was that the gym was located between his job location and his apartment, so it was easy to stop by after work. His current gym was located at the opposite side of his office, but he went there every week. But, to come to think of it, that guy didn't use his machine often even though they were in his apartment, so maybe convenience isn't related to frequency usage.

One week later the guy came to the inventor's office and received his invention: special shoes and their attachments. The guy was listening to the inventor's explanation seriously.

One month later, the guy came to the inventor's office and reported his experience:

"After receiving this, at home I soon changed my clothes and put on those shoes and started to run. Using the monitor on my wrist, I could see my running distance, and the amount of the electricity that was generated by my running. I thought this idea was elaborate because the more I run, the more I could contribute to the environment by making ecofriendly electricity. But there was another device." The guy looked at the inventor. The inventor nodded, the guy continued:

"After running, I put the shoes on the attachment portal and it started to send the electricity to the company and after that the price of the electricity was sent automatically to an NPO as a donation that I could choose from on the list, they are NPOs that work for ecology improving activities. If it was just to generate electricity, I might have gotten tired and stopped running. Donating to the NPO seemed to be a little bit different from just exercising for my health or just for generating electricity. Donating something was more positive idea. Being encouraged by this, after a certain period of my running, I thought that if I ran double the distance, I could donate double. I did it. And after that, I thought that I might be able to run a little more. Like this, I was able to increase my distance every time. Although, my donations are still small."

The inventor was amazed and asked, "So how long do you run now?" Actually the guy looked heathier than before, he replied, "Yesterday, I ran about 20 km, it was rather longer than usual, though."  "What!? 20 kilometers! In that case, I should make another pair for myself!" They laughed and laughed.
